Will McCleary Decision Result in New Sales Tax on Homes?

In the McCleary decision, the Washington State Supreme Court ruled that state government is not meeting its constitutional duty to provide basic education for children in Washington.  The governor and state legislature are looking at a number of options to fill this education “funding gap”.  One proposal is to expand the application of the sales tax to service businesses, such as real estate, ultimately increasing the tax burden on homes.
