2014 TREC Planting Project: Restore the Duwamish Shoreline Challenge

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! Over 40 REALTORS® and Affiliates volunteered October 3, 2014 to help restore 1.5 miles of the shoreline behind the BECU building in Tukwila along the green river trail. It was a warm sunny day along the banks of the Duwamish River. The area was overgrown with invasive plants that have choked out native vegetation that destroys vital habitat for salmon, and other fish and wildlife. The project will also help revitalize this culturally, economically and historically significant waterway as a place for community gathering and recreation.

The project was coordinated with Forterra. They gave instructions, supplied tools, gloves, tents and tables. A hot soup and sandwich lunch was provided and sponsored by SKCR Affiliate members.
