REALTORS® advocacy efforts help to avert Mercer Island permit application moratorium
On December 7th, the Mercer Island City Council voted to defer a moratorium on residential applications. Instead, the Council adopted option 1 to have further discussion of the issue and proposed code changes at its 2016 planning session scheduled in January.
Seattle King County REALTORS® submitted a comment letter to the City Council, issued a targeted Call To Action, and 2016 President-Elect Sam DeBord testified against the proposed moratorium before the City Council.
This is a positive result for REALTORS® and property owners. Seattle King County REALTORS® will continue working with the City Council to achieve a final and fair resolution to the issues involved.
