Record turnout and funds raised for REALTORS® Annual Battle of the Barristers

More than 400 REALTORS® and affiliate members of Seattle King County REALTORS® gathered in Bellevue on Friday for the annual “Battle of the Barristers” clock-hour program and fundraiser. Five of the top real estate attorneys in the region debated hot topics affecting brokers in this competitive market.

Not only did this year’s Battle beat record attendance, Seattle King County REALTORS® raised over $14,000 for the First Citizen Scholarship Foundation, more than any other year prior. For more information on the Scholarship program, click here.

Billed as “the most informative and entertaining real estate legal event of the year,” the popular program covered issues such as multiple offers, pre-inspections, financing problems and appraisals coming in low, unauthorized practice of law, and much more.

The lively 3-hour program was moderated by Mike Spence, partner at Helsell Fetterman LLC.

Joining Spence were four attorneys who all teach clock-hour classes for industry professionals:

  • Annie Fitzsimmons, attorney for Washington REALTORS® (WR) and its legal hotline;
  • Lars Neste, a shareholder at Demco Law Firm, P.S., where he specializes in real estate law;
  • Chris Osborn, of Foster Pepper, PLLC, who is general counsel to the NWMLS; and
  • Doug S. Tingvall, an attorney with 30-plus years of experience representing residential real estate professionals.

Our most successful event to date could not have been accomplished without our fantastic sponsors. Thank you to the following event sponsors: Fox Law Firm, Northwest Multiple Listing Service, Old Republic Title, Commissions Express, and NW Gift Company. We also want to thank our Annual Affiliate partners: WIN Home Inspection, iMortgage, Newland Communities, Opes Advisors, Peoples Bank, and Wells Fargo Home Inspection.

Thank you to all those who attended and we look forward to seeing you next year!
