REALTOR® Leadership Program: Preparing for active volunteerism
“Leaders don’t create followers; they create more leaders.” Tom Peters, author of Re-imagine! Business Excellence in a Disruptive Age
That was the message at the REALTOR® Leadership Program offered at Seattle King County REALTORS® last month. The class brought together nearly 20 participants at different stages of association volunteerism, from new faces to long-time Board members, where the focus was on creating confident, knowledgeable leaders.
“I’ve taught [the REALTOR® Leadership program] 30 or 40 times, and I’ve learned things every single time,” said instructor Steve Francks, CEO of Washington REALTORS®.
Beyond gaining management and communication skills, volunteering can open doors to opportunities to help you become an even better leader.
For example, the National Association of REALTORS® Leadership Academy gives participants the opportunity to learn from industry leaders to enhance their working knowledge of leadership. Among those chosen for the competitive program next year is 2018 Seattle King County REALTORS® President-Elect, Rich Bergdahl. The program is offered yearly and has 18 spots, and applications for the 2019 class are being accepted through March 9, 2018.
In addition, three participants from the recent REALTOR® Leadership Program class were recently accepted to the 2018 Washington REALTORS® Leadership Institute, offered in February, March, and May of next year.
