Take action: Tell Congress to renew the National Flood Insurance Program
The last time the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) lapsed without renewal from Congress, 1,400 transactions per day were stalled and millions of homes were put at risk by not having the protection they need in the event of a flood. With help from REALTORS®, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) scored a win when Congress extended the program through July 31, 2018. Now, NAR is asking for your help again in calling on Congress to renew and strengthen the program for the next five years.
NAR urges every member to contact their member of Congress to bring awareness to the July 31 deadline and urge them to pass all of several pieces of legislation currently in the works to reauthorize the program and prepare it financially for the long term.
REALTORS® can respond to this Call for Action with a pre-written message quickly and easily here.
The NFIP is important to many housing markets in King County and Western Washington that are identified within national flood mapping areas.
