Phil Souza, former SKCR and WR President, passes
Seattle King County REALTORS® is sad to share news that past president and long-time REALTOR® leader Phil Souza passed away last week of cancer. Phil served as President of SKCR in 1988 and went on to serve as state President for Washington REALTORS® in 2000.
“My decades long friendship with Phil gave me the pleasure of knowing a man of kindness and integrity,” said Van Anderson, Seattle King County REALTOR® president in 1993. “Always ready to do a friend a favor was his mantra. His unfailing dedication to our industry will be greatly missed.”
Phil served in a number of capacities and with different companies throughout his near 50-year career in real estate, including owner at Century 21 Smith Ring and manager at Coldwell Banker, and designated broker with realestate.com and Adamas Realty. Phil was an exemplary REALTOR® who enjoyed serving his clients and giving back to the industry.
Phil served on the Seattle King County Board throughout the 1980’s before becoming President in 1988. His local association leadership and business experience were an asset to Washington REALTORS® during his term as state President in 2000. Phil frequently attended the annual King County past president luncheons to catch up and share knowledge with past presidents and colleagues of the Association.
“I had the privilege to work with Phil early in my real estate career when he was our firm’s Designated Broker. He really enjoyed real estate and brought us his deep experience and skill in the brokerage industry, which included his service as the Executive Vice President and Northwest Regional Manager for Coldwell Banker,” said Sam Pace, past President of Washington REALTORS®. “Phil was a source of great knowledge and assistance, and showed me tremendous kindness, for which I remain deeply grateful.”
Phil was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He will be buried with military honors at the Tahoma National Cemetery on June 6 at 11:30 a.m., 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent, WA 98042. Please check the cemetery website for details.
