Free NAR Code of Ethics class offered by SKCR

There is now a free Code of Ethics class offered by Seattle King County REALTORS® on a monthly basis. The course provides REALTORS® with an easy way to earn three clock hours for taking the required National Association of REALTORS® class. Any member in good standing may take the course at no charge.

Taught by Instructors Mark Kitabayashi (Managing Broker, CIPS, SRES, AHWD) and Larry Christensen (2014 Seattle King County Realtor® President), this class guides REALTORS® through the professional standards enforcement process, with highlights of key changes and takeaways relevant to the Code of Ethics. REALTORS® also learn about their options for settling disputes with clients, customers, and other practitioners. Taking the Ethics class every two years is a requirement of REALTOR membership.

“Understanding the code of ethics helps you make more money,” said Kitabayashi. “It’s important to learn about the relationships between ethics, licensing law, and the MLS rules. Very few free classes come with clock hours.

Kitabayashi emphasized that understanding the relationship between law and ethics will help you further succeed in the industry. The class provides real-life experiences, exercises, and examples of how to avoid mistakes and remain profitable.

“It’s a good idea to refresh my mind on the code of ethics so I’m always happy to take this class,” said Sharon Giampietro, a Broker for Windermere Real Estate.
