Over 600 in attendance for the first virtual Battle of the Barristers
Seattle King County REALTORS®’ popular legal seminar, Battle of the Barristers, reached a record of 615 members via Zoom on October 16.
This first virtual Battle was moderated by lawyer and clock-hour instructor Mike Spence, with the participation of Annie Fitzsimmons, Chris Osborn, Lars Neste and Doug Tingvall.
Despite the lack of a live audience, there were plenty of fireworks as the attorneys dissected and debated the Law of Agency in Washington when it comes to the requirements of dual agency and the concepts of non-agency and real estate “facilitator”.
“It was nice to get diverse perspectives from experienced attorneys and hear about relevant, real-life examples,” said first-time attendee Lori Hruby, Broker from John L. Scott. “I was impressed that they touched on six different matters.”
“This course offers great legal ideas and helps us beware of risks pertaining to our business,” said Barb McKenzie, Broker from Coldwell Banker Bain. “The Moderator and Barristers are intelligent and great at storytelling.”
This three-clock hour class is also a fundraiser for the Seattle King County Scholarship Foundation, which has awarded over $400,000 in educational grants to families of Association members.
“It’s always great to get together with my fellow lawyers to discuss these issues and it really helps to educate the hundreds of REALTORS® joining us,” said Moderator Mike Spence. “I really miss being in the same room as everybody and hope to see everyone in 2021.”
We thank our sponsors and our great attorneys for a fun and educational event. We also thank everyone who registered for our first virtual Battle of the Barristers.
