Virtual ceremony celebrates 2020 achievements and being “Better Together” in 2021

“Don’t be surprised by the unexpected”. That was the theme of remarks by Tommy Choi, 2021 NAR VP of Association Affairs and special guest speaker at the Awards and Installation ceremony of Seattle King County REALTORS®.

Choi thanked a Latin phrase he learned in high school for a lesson that helped prepare him for a most unusual year in 2020. “To be surprised by nothing means acceptance,” he said.  “As leaders, if you encounter difficulty, reflect on that moment, then move forward and try again. When something great happens, don’t be surprised because you earned it.” These remarks helped highlight the perseverance and competence of our REALTOR® members in 2020 and set the tone for 2021.

More than 115 REALTOR® members, family members, and friends joined the December 10 virtual event to celebrate the installation of 2021 board members and 2020 award winners.

Installing Officer Matt Deasy, President of Windermere RE/East Inc., installed a total of 38 directors to the 2021 Board for Seattle King County REALTORS®, the Board of the Seattle-Metro and South King County networks of Women’s Council of REALTORS®, and the Board of the Washington Certified Residential Specialists (CRS).

2021 SKCR President Lynn Sanborn, Windermere RE/East Inc. | Yarrow Bay, gave a touching speech about being “Better Together” as a REALTOR® Association in 2021. She emphasized an on-going commitment to inclusiveness within the organization.

“We are a great organization that has been in existence for over 112 years,” said Lynn. “I am very excited about the Board I get to serve on. Together, we will accomplish great things. We will continue to be a welcoming and inclusive Board. We will work hard to protect members and homeownership rights. We will engage our membership and keep working to ensure that everybody in our community has a home. Our efforts together will ensure that we create more housing choices and opportunities for homeownership and our communities. We are the ones leading the way and we, as REALTORS®, are really Better Together.”

The ceremony concluded with the 2020 Awards presentation, emceed by Jenn Mueller, Compass Washington, LLC, and Todd Shively, Coldwell Banker Bain | Capitol Hill.
