Attend free virtual Washington REALTORS® Legislative Days!
Seattle King County REALTORS® invites members to attend the free virtual Washington REALTORS® committee meetings starting on January 18 through January 21. Take advantage of this opportunity to hear from guest speakers, attend WR Association meetings, and learn about our priority legislative issues during this legislative session.
“This year, attending the 2021 virtual WR Legislative Days is free,” said Eddie Chang, 2021 VP Governmental & Public Affairs. “We invite everyone to come join us to learn about what WR and RPAC do for you and your business. It is also a great opportunity to learn about WR’s Committees, including Membership, Diversity, Operations, RPAC, and how we are protecting your business in Olympia.”
For our members who serve as legislative key contacts and will be having virtual meetings with state legislators on January 21, we anticipate that the following will be our priority legislative issues to discuss with legislators:
- A housing bill that adds missing middle housing to the housing focus of GMA and, for Buildable Lands Counties only, to have six dwelling units per acre required in urban areas with carve-out exemptions for certain areas with critical areas;
- A housing bill to follow up on housing incentives in HB 1923, which was expanded and augmented in HB 2343, to provide cities with REET incentives to upzone above current zoning;
- State funding for county action to do a computerized search of all deeds containing racial covenants & automatically record a document invalidating the racial covenant language so that individual property owners are not required to go in and do it themselves. In essence this is an extension of HB 2514, passed in 2018. Local governments would be able to use a portion of local REET funds for the review and notification process.
With the event being virtual, Legislative Hill Day will be even more accessible than ever. We hope to see new faces participate
Registration is FREE for all members!
