Record-breaking attendance at Battle of the Barristers; Over $34,000 raised for REALTOR® Scholarships

Our biggest annual event got bigger this year as a new record of over 730 REALTORS® and Affiliates tuned into our virtual Battle of the Barristers on October 7. Aside from providing 3 clock hours to members, this annual event also raised $34,817 for the Seattle King-County First Citizen Scholarship Foundation – with all proceeds funding scholarships for REALTORS® and their family members.*

Ranked as the most valuable annual member event in our 2021 member survey, the best legal battle of the year is a great opportunity for members to learn from five of the best real estate attorneys on the best practices in today’s extraordinary market.

Although the Battle of the Barristers was held virtually for a second year, the battle was still just as informative. Thank you to our real estate attorneys!

It was an entertaining and informative battle moderated by lawyer and clock-hour instructor Mike Spence with the company of real estate attorneys Annie Fitzsimmons, Lars Neste, Chris Osborn, and Doug S. Tingvall. The lawyers debated scenarios concerning earnest money deposits, brokers contributing to seller’s remodeling costs, proof of funds issues, listing properties under value to encourage a bidding war, and dealing with sellers who do not cooperate.

“This course offers real life application and a great reminder of our legal duties and boundaries,” said Tammy Heldridge, Windermere Real Estate.

“Battle of the Barristers offers relevant topics to current market AND consistent theme of risk mitigation,” said Paul Uhl, Coldwell Banker Danforth.

Thank you to over 730 REALTORS® and Affiliates for tuning into our biggest event of the year.

*Scholarship applications will be available at the beginning of 2022
