Now in Effect: New DOL-Required Fair Housing Education
Substitute Senate Bill 5378 requires education on Fair Housing for new licensees and renewals. This bill went into effect on June 1, 2022 and applies to both Real Estate Brokers and Managing Brokers. Not all Fair Housing CE classes will meet the DOL’s new mandatory requirement; Brokers must complete the Washington Real Estate Fair Housing course that includes DOL-specified curriculum.
All active Brokers and Managing Brokers must take a Washington Real Estate Fair Housing course as part of the required 30-hour instruction. Brokers and Managing Brokers renewing their licenses in 2022, must take the 6-hour Fair Housing course by June 1, 2023; every renewal afterward will require a 3-hour course.
New Brokers will take a 3-hour Fair Housing course as part of the normal 90-hour pre-licensing curriculum; they will take a second 3-hour course as part of the normal 90-hour first renewal curriculum.
Seattle King County REALTORS® is here to help you satisfy this new licensing requirement. Check our education calendar for the Washington Real Estate Fair Housing course.
