Do you wonder why teachers are driving an hour or more each way to get to work? Or why we don’t have more types of housing that fit all budgets in Washington State? Or what makes housing so expensive?
Join us for informative and passionate discussions from industry experts in home building, design, real estate, business, municipal government and nonprofits to hear their differing perspectives on the lack of missing middle housing in Washington State.
Special guest speaker: Mitali Ganguly
Learn from the expert on planning for density and gaining community acceptance. Hear about what it takes to bring diverse housing types into fruition. Mitali Ganguly an Associate with Opticos Design, is a design innovator regarded for her work in small-scale Transit-Oriented Development, affordable housing, and urban revitalization.
Panels will cover the following topics.
- What is missing middle housing and how does it benefit individuals and communities?
- What are the barriers to building missing middle housing?
- What are some ways to incentivize/encourage the building of more missing middle housing?

1:00-1:50 Local discussion- Why Missing Middle Housing is needed, why it is so expensive and why we don’t have more (cost, zoning etc.)
