NAR’s Green Designation Course: People, Property, Planet, Prosperity
High performance, healthy, and sustainable homes are increasingly valued by a large percentage of today’s buyers. Ever-increasing Washington building codes have increased the sophistication and features for homebuyers to prioritize. Staying up to date on these changes is critical to your business. This 2-day certification class covers the ever-evolving American home from both a local and National perspective and provides a basic understanding of the concepts and resources that make homes high performance, healthy and more sustainable.
Gain an understanding of:
- Washington’s Built Green Program
- Buyers’ and sellers’ changing expectations about energy and home performance
- How properties with green features can sell for more
- Marketing the benefits of high-performance features and smart home technology
- The advantages of a sustainable business mode
- How to help homeowners improve the resource efficiency of their homes—from low-cost fixes to big-budget remodels
- The cost-benefits of retrofitting vs. remodeling vs. renovating
- And so much more…
Day one introduces students to home performance features and provides a detailed accounting of how they work. It prepares real estate professionals to become the trusted advisor and source for information to help homeowners improve the comfort of their homes from low-cost fixes and DIY projects, retrofitting and replacing systems, to big budget remodeling projects and new construction. Students will learn the advantages of Built Green certification for homebuyers and how the local Built Green program is evolving to meet today’s needs.
Day two looks at high performance homes from the consumer perspective – what they value and prioritize in home buying and makes the connection between smart growth communities (affordability, accessibility, and health), consumer preference, and sustainability. As the demand for sustainable homes continues to grow, these properties are becoming more valuable in the real estate market making them an overall better investment. This course will show how to apply innovative home building knowledge to increase your business, value properties more accurately, assist in the appraisal valuation, market, and present high-performance homes effectively while helping to create a more sustainable, healthy world. Lastly, students will leave this class with an extensive list of local and national resources.
Students who successfully complete NAR’s Green Designation course will receive a free year of membership in the Green REsource Council. Second year dues will be $98.50, prorated based on when you completed Day 2. Third year dues and every year thereafter will be $98.50.
Instructors include:
Brenda Nunes, Managing Broker who has practical knowledge in building, evaluating, marketing and selling both certified and uncertified green homes.
