After 2023’s momentous Legislative Session now known as “The Year of Housing,” REALTORS® seek to continue the momentum built and support bills that encourage housing density, diversity, and development.

Hill Day is an important event that gives members an opportunity to see the Government Affairs team working hard to ensure that Washington lawmakers understand the challenges that REALTORS® and consumers face in the market. This year, nearly half of the attendees from Seattle King County REALTORS® attended for the first time.

Last week, hundreds of REALTORS® ascended the steps of our State Capitol to meet with legislators from across Washington on issues facing our industry. Lot splitting, rural detached accessory dwelling units, transportation-oriented development, and more were on the docket as members sat down with their representatives.

Several of our members shared their personal experiences and stories about the impact of Hill Day.

“Such a wonderful experience to get to meet fellow practitioners to network and advocate with our legislators! It's something you must experience and hard to just describe in a few short sentences. It was such a blessing to meet so many likeminded professionals, and together advocate for changes that will help make the American Dream possible for more and not just a few!”

–Vincent Ha, First Time Hill Day Attendee

“This was my first-time attending Hill Day. I was hesitant at first, but after a few fellow board members asked me to go, I was sold. I attended both committee day and hill day and it exceeded every expectation. I learned about policies that impact our industry, networked with colleagues from across the state, and lobbied on behalf of my fellow REALTORS. Hill Day is a must!”

–Mikaela Ji, 2023 SKCR Director & First Time Hill Day Attendee

“Being in the presence of this group is a truly humbling experience. The teamwork, dedication, and passion for serving both buyers and sellers as well as our communities and families, is utterly inspiring. While being away from my own family and business is a sacrifice, the time spent with me REALTOR family is undeniably worthwhile”

–Cheyenne Gillooly, 2023 SKCR Vice President of Business Practices

“I make a point to attend Hill Day every year. The opportunity to meet with legislators on priority issues for REALTORS is something I cannot pass up. Once you are on the Hill, in the Capitol, meeting with your elected officials you truly realize the importance of Hill Day and the impact REALTORS have.”

–Garrett Nelson, 2023 SKCR President-Elect
