REALTORS® Attend Claudia Balducci’s Campaign Kickoff Event
May 2, 2025
On April 25, representatives from Seattle King County REALTORS® (SKCR) attended the campaign kick-off breakfast for Claudia Balducci, whom SKCR has endorsed for King County Executive in this year’s election. Balducci, a long-time REALTOR® Champion, currently serves on the King County Council for District 6 and previously served as the Mayor of Bellevue.
“We are pleased to support Claudia Balducci for her strong commitment to housing supply and affordability throughout King County as well as her commitment to public safety, making sure that all King County residents continue to enjoy a high quality of life,” said Randy Bannecker, housing specialist for SKCR.
Balducci’s platform is built on the three pillars of affordability, sustainability, and public safety. Regarding affordability, she supports an influx of new housing at all levels so that people who work in King County can live in King County, young adults who grew up here can choose to settle here, and seniors can age in place. “Let’s turn the housing spigot on,” she said suggesting we begin by advocating for housing-friendly regulations, more efficient and timely permitting processes, and robust comprehensive plans that allow for density.
Sustainability has been a theme throughout Balducci’s tenure as an elected official, championing the region’s light rail system. At the campaign breakfast, she quipped, “I’m the biggest pain in the ass on the Soung Transit Board” because of her insistence on progress.
Public safety is very much on the minds of voters in King County, and Balducci wants to bring real solutions to the very visible problems plaguing our area. She claimed that her background in criminal justice as an attorney gives her a good sense of the real issues. She vowed to bring “honest and determined leadership” to foster trust between police and communities and continue to build the co-response model of law enforcement for people in crisis. “There are too many bullets, too many people with mental health and substance abuse issues, too many juveniles in jail,” she said.
“Beyond her support of housing, transit, and public safety,” said Eddie Chang, former SKCR VP of Governmental and Public Affairs, “we support Claudia Balducci because of her ability to get things done, make our county a better place, and deliver on the promises that she has made.”
