Another Sold-Out Year for Battle of the Barristers

Seattle King County REALTORS® once again brought together hundreds of real estate professionals for Battle of the Barristers, held September 15 at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. The event sold out for the third year in a row, with 660 registered attendees, making this year’s Battle the largest yet.

Attorney Mike Spence moderated a panel featuring fellow real estate attorneys Annie Fitzsimmons, Andrew Mathews, Lars Neste, and Erin Varriano. Together, they worked through a series of real-world legal scenarios, with plenty of differing opinions and spirited debate along the way.

The scenarios explored seller capacity and earnest money disputes, team and referral agreements, potential conflicts involving ancillary services, and risks associated with transactions in common interest communities. The popular Lightning Round also returned with additional legal questions based on situations brokers encounter every day.

Attendees earned 3 clock hours of continuing education and had the opportunity to submit questions directly to the panel throughout the morning.

Battle of the Barristers also supports the Seattle King County First Citizen Scholarship Foundation, which provides scholarships for REALTORS® and their families pursuing higher education. This year’s Battle of the Barristers helped generate over $30,000 for the foundation (pending final accounting).

With its third consecutive sellout and largest Battle to date, Battle of the Barristers continues to be one of SKCR’s most anticipated education events of the year.
